"Every child deserves a champion: an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection and insists they become the best they can possibly be." -Rita Pierson
Teaching Philosophy
I believe my role as an educator is to provide an environment that fosters social and emotional development of students. I strongly believe that students need an environment where they feel safe, loved, and respected in order to feel like confident, resilient learners. My goal is to not only teach mastery of content, but also critical thinking, effort, curiosity and creativity. As an educator, I will lead by example through improving my own skills and willingness to learn along with my students. Overall, my students will be accepted, loved, confident, and inspired in my classroom.
Classroom Management Philosophy
I believe the key to a well-managed classroom is providing an environment in which students can feel safe and loved to have a positive educational experience. Based upon Love and Logic, I want my students to be held accountable for our classroom principles and guidelines. Along with this, I will develop a trust in students and their guardians through a firm "no-nonsense" policy. My goal is for each student to learn from empathy and consequences as well as be given shared power in the classroom. In Fall of 2020, I completed a course called Classroom Management with Dr. Carmelita Lamb. This course helped me develop a structured classroom management plan for the first days of school.
